Homemade Applesauce

Homemade Apple Sauce
Homemade Applesauce

I use to buy apple sauce ALL THE TIME from the grocery store as it is such a great ingredient to add to my cooking.  Adding sweetness to my baking as well as acting as a binding agent. Not only can applesauce be used as an ingredient in my Big Breakfast Bar,it is a deliciously sweet condiment, snack and treat (yes I admit that I have just eaten apple sauce straight from the jar…why do babies get to have all the fun?!)

However, after looking at the actual ingredients that are contained in store bought applesauce I realised that there is a high sugar content and also food acid added to the product, which honestly can not be truly healthy for you. However, it does state that 90% is actually apple as sometimes it is questionable about the actual percentage of the advertised main ingredient in the food item.

So I have decided to take my health back into my hands and rid myself of the partially lazy chef who wanted to save time. I am now minimising the use of bottled store bought products and decided to make my own Homemade Applesauce.

Since taking this 15 minutes out of my day to make this Homemade Applesauce it baffles me why I did not do this sooner.

This recipe is incredibly easy, simple, healthy, and quick leaving you smacking your lips for more. You will no longer have random Food Acids and extra sugar added to your applesauce, but rather indulge in the natural sweetness of the apples themselves leaving the sweet aroma lingering in your kitchen.
