Spirulina Protein Energy Bliss Ball

These Spirulina Protein Energy Bliss Balls have quickly become one of my favored quick and nourishing supercharged snacks just for on the go or after one of my high intensity work outs. Generally speaking my days are very busy with a 4:30am wake up so that I can get ready either to go to the gym for cardio, weights, yoga, or cycling classes. On the days that I can take advantage of the nice weather I am out the door ready for an early morning trail run, hike, or cycling. Also, as a very active vegan it is very important  for me to monitor my iron and protein levels to ensure that I am getting the right amounts to sustain my fitness levels, nourish my body and sustain my energy levels so that my vitamins and minerals also do not diminish.

I love these Spirulina Protein Energy Bliss Balls as they are so easy to make to either have for breakfast before or after your workout or even as a on the go snack to keep your blood sugars stable and energy levels high. Pop one of these babies into your mouth and you will be bouncing off the walls again ready to take on the world.

As with all of my creations I ensure that my intention is set from the very start consciously choosing clean and healthy ingredients that compliment one another and only benefit my body. One of the key ingredients in this bliss ball is of course Spirulina! You may look at this green powder and think it looks like something out of alien and think twice about consuming it, but trust me and get this superfood into you right now as you have been missing out on all of its health benefits.

Spirulina is a blue-green algae (ok don’t stop here, just continue to read on) that is a powerhouse of nutrients and the perfect supplement or ingredient for vegans and athletes alike. Spirulina is one of the best sources of protein with an amazing 70% of its weight in protein. It is a complete protein containing 18 amino acids, and all the essential amino acids, and better yet easily absorbeable, meaning that it can start to repair and rebuild your muscles quicker. Spirulina is naturally also high in iron, beta carotene, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. One of the main attractions of Spirulina to myself is its benefits in increasing speed, energy, endurance, mental ability, reduces fatigue, retains the iron content in the body that is generally depleted through high intensity workouts, assists in burning more fat through the muscle cells, and boosts the immune system (no time to have sick days).

Another important ingredient in these Spirulina Protein Energy Bliss Balls is Hemp Protein Powder which is dervied from the hemp plant, and before you start thinking that I am advertising or encouraging the use of drugs this is not true. The hemp used to make this hemp protein powder only contains a tiny amount (< than 1%) of THC and therefore has virtually no psychoactive effects.

Hemp Protein Powder is one of the best sources of protein powder on the market as this is especially abundant with protein consisting all of the 21 amino acids and 9 essential amino acids, making this a complete protein, with two tablespoons of hemp protein powder providing 13-15 grams of protein which is readily digestible. This is not only an excellent source of protein for athletes, however, is great for those that are vegan such as myself and attribute to a healthy, balanced diet. Hemp Protein powder is high in vitamin E, minerals such as magnesium and potassium, high in fibre, and omega 3 fatty acids, to name a few.

Hemp Protein Powder is the perfect complimenting ingredient to the Spirulina as together these create a powerful duo for those looking for a healthy snack that will keep them going all day long whilst healing you from the inside, as you really are what you eat, and don’t you want to be an energetic, fitness machine because I sure do!
